USC Youth Protection and Programming

This page contains step by step information for student groups who work with minors.

  1. Policy review: Review the Protecting Minors policy

  2. Register the activity (annually): Register the activity with our office via our online form *

  3. Background checks: Reach out to background@usc.edu to ensure that all adults involved in the program have cleared their background checks before the program’s start date

  4. Training: Ensure all adults involved follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide (attached) to register and complete the following required Praesidium training: Duty to Report: Mandated Reporter Requirements and Best Practices

  5. Review and adhere to COVID-19 Restart Guidance for USC Youth Programs (if in-person programming planned)

*Once the activity has been (re)registered, the next step will be to have a consultation call/meeting with the YPP office, which they/you can schedule here.

*Have all minors sign the W & R agreement, and then you should send them April Campbell.

They recently updated their website and there is some additional support that may be useful, including the Registration Roadmap page.

Please reach out to Carissa Coons if you have any questions.
